This guide explains how to get to El Nido, helping you choose the best way to arrive smoothly and start your stay with ease.
By air -airplane
Flying is still the fastest and most convenient way to reach El Nido, but flight routes in the Philippines have recently changed.
As of March 29, 2026, direct Manila–El Nido flights are no longer operating. Travelers now have several alternative routes depending on their itinerary, budget, and preferred airports.
The Most Convenient Route: International Travelers Skip Manila. Clark → El Nido
If possible, the easiest option is to avoid Manila entirely.
Many international travelers now fly directly to Cebu (CEB) or Clark (CRK), then take a short domestic direct flight to El Nido. This route is often smoother, less stressful, and avoids Manila traffic and airport transfers. Flights from Cebu and Clark to El Nido take approximately 1 hour.
Direct Flights from Other Philippine Islands
El Nido is also connected by direct flights from several popular destinations in the Philippines, including Cebu, Clark, Boracay, Coron, and Bohol.
Via Manila → Clark → El Nido
If you arrive in Manila, the recommended option is to continue to Clark Airport (CRK) before flying to El Nido.
From NAIA Terminal 3, travelers can take the Genesis shuttle bus to Clark Airport. The journey usually takes between 1.5 and 3 hours depending on traffic. Clark now offers multiple daily direct flights to El Nido and has become one of the main gateways to Northern Palawan.
Via Manila → Puerto Princesa → El Nido
Another popular alternative is flying from Manila to Puerto Princesa (PPS), followed by a van or bus transfer to El Nido.
The overland trip from Puerto Princesa to El Nido takes around 5 hours. Shared vans are the most common option, while Cherry Bus offers a more spacious and comfortable journey.
This route is often a good choice for travelers looking for cheaper flights or those planning to explore other parts of Palawan along the way.
By land -van or bus
Traveling from Puerto Princesa to El Nido by land is a common option. Shared vans take approximately 5–6 hours and are the fastest way to reach El Nido by road. Private vans are also available for travelers who prefer more space or flexibility.
Another option is to travel by Cherry Bus, which departs from San Jose Terminal and arrives at the El Nido bus terminal. While the journey takes around 6–8 hours, the bus is more spacious and comfortable, making it a good choice for a longer but easier ride.
By sea -ferry
El Nido can also be reached by sea from Coron. Ferry services operate between Coron and El Nido with companies such as Montenegro Shipping Lines and Phimal Fast Ferry, depending on the season and weather conditions. The sea crossing usually takes around 3 to 5 hours.
